Hélène Campbell, recipient of a double lung transplant, received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal Wednesday.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen stopped by Campbell’s Toronto home to personally pin the medal on her lapel.

Harper said she is receiving this honour for her courage and her tremendous work in raising awareness for organ donation.

“She has been a great inspiration to many Canadians and people have seen her worldwide,” Harper said.

Helene is still recovering from her transplant surgery.  The colour has returned to her face, she has more energy and it appears she is off the oxygen tank.

Celebrities like Justin Bieber and Ellen DeGeneres threw their support behind Campbell when she started an online campaign for organ donations.

Campbell used social media and blogs to get her message out about her battle with a lung disease.
