PORTLAND, OR (NEWS1130) – Fresh off of a 2-1 loss on aggregate to Toronto FC in the final of the Canadian Championship, the Vancouver Whitecaps will shift their focus to the Cascadia Cup as they face the Portland Timbers.

The Whitecaps lost 1-0 in Toronto on Wednesday as the Reds won the Voyageurs Cup for the fourth straight year.

The ‘Caps will now have their focus solely on the Major League Soccer season, starting with tonight’s match against the Timbers.

The expansion-cousins will be meeting for the first time this season. Last season Portland won both matches between the two teams.

This will be the second Cascadia Cup match for the Whitecaps this season. Vancouver played to a 2-2 draw with the Seattle Sounders last Saturday.

Vancouver will be looking to put some distance between itself and Portland in the Western Conference standings. The ‘Caps (5W-3L-3D) are in fourth-place, six points clear of the Timbers (3W-5L-3D).

Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
