SURREY (NEWS1130) – One man is in hospital after a hit and run outside a Surrey pub.

It happened outside the Wheelhouse Pub around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Surrey RCMP believe it first started with an fight between two groups of men.

“We know that from the witnesses that we did identify that outside of the bar it was a verbal exchange that went to a physical confrontation,” notes Staff Sgt Murray Hedderson. “We’re not sure if it started in the bar. We’re still sorting that out.”

Hedderson says one of the groups headed to a car, with the second group following them. The first group then started to drive away, hitting one of the men in the second group.

The victim, in his 20s, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Mounties are now looking for a newer, light-coloured Chrysler that may have damage to the front. If you’ve seen this vehicle or say the fight, you’re asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
