TORONTO (NEWS1130) – Langley’s Brett Lawrie drove in three runs and scored three times as well as the Toronto Blue Jays won for the second straight night with an 8-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Lawrie went 3-for-4 at the plate as starting pitcher Ricky Romero improved to 5-0 this season at Rogers Centre.

The 22-year-old from Langley scored the Jays first run of the game in the third inning on a throwing error by Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta, which tied the score at 1-1.

The Blue Jays added one more run in the third inning to take a one-run lead, and then Lawrie gave the home team some breathing room as he doubled home Colby Rasmus and J.P. Arencibia. Lawrie later scored in the inning.

Lawrie got things going for the Jays again in the fifth inning. He got his third hit of the game, an RBI single, and then scored on yet another Davis single as Toronto put up three runs in the inning to take an 8-1 lead.

The Orioles got back into the game with a pair of two-run homers off the bats of Adam Jones and Chris Davis. Jones also hit a solo homer in the first inning as he extended his hit-streak to 20 games.
