Missing Women Inquiry report deadline extended

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The province is giving the man overseeing the Missing Women Inquiry more time to finish his final report.
Former Attorney General Wally Oppal now has until the end of October to submit his findings, rather than the end of June.
Oppal says he asked for the extra time. “We have hundred of thousands of pages of documents that we need to go through, we have gone through a lot of that. It’s a mammoth undertaking and for that reason we need the time.”
It is the second time the province has extended the deadline for Oppal’s report.
Ernie Crey, whose sister’s DNA was found on Robert Pickton’s farm, says the BC government should have made this move a long time ago.
“And of course government wasn’t listening to him, and they weren’t listening to people like me who were supporting his calls for an extension into the inquiry.”
The hearings will wrap up as scheduled next week.
