VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – This weekend’s events range from the delectable, with a food and cooking festival, to a fun magic show for kids. If a drag show piques your interest, you’re in luck too.

The EAT! Vancouver Food and Cooking Festival is on this weekend at BC Place featuring some of the city’s top chefs, demonstrations, and exhibitors from the international food industry. Plus of course, some great food and drink.

The BC Civil Liberties Association’s Golden Anniversary Gala & Liberty Awards dinner happens Saturday night at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel.

Learn about the edible food that grows all around us at the Edible Wilds Workshop Saturday at the Terra Nova Rural Park Farm Centre.

Check out Fit for a Queen, a huge drag show Saturday night at the River Rock featuring music, dance and fun.  Money raised helps the Shooting Stars Foundation.

Bring the kids out for Race for Kids on Saturday at QE Park, where they can take part in a race complete with ten checkpoints, fun challenges and a singing contest.

Come out to Fab fair Saturday at the Heritage Hall on Main and check out some great jewellery, clothes, hair stuff and makeup.  Kids get in for free.

The 27th annual ChildRun is on Sunday at 33 Ave. and Heather in Vancouver. Money raised helps childhood-cancer research and treatment at B.C. Children’s Hospital.

You can also take part in the Earth Run on Sunday at Jericho Beach Park and help raise awareness and money for environmental issues.  There will also be live entertainment, prizes and draws.

Take part in the 11th Annual Run, Walk, and Roll for Our Kids on Sunday at Bear Creek Park in Surrey.

Learn all about the universe at Unveiling the Universe on Sunday at the Omnimax Theatre at Science World.  The director general of CERN will be there talking about space and time, Einstein’s laws, and much more.  And it’s all free.

Bring the kids out to the Making Magic Show on Sunday at the River Rock and enjoy some magic acts, balloon animals, cotton candy and popcorn.  

It’s the last weekend to enjoy the Vancouver International Children’s Festival down at Granville Island.
