TERRACE (NEWS1130) – Rescue crews have recovered the bodies of three people killed in a helicopter crash near Terrace.
The helicopter went down during a training mission near Sleeping Beauty Mountain on Friday morning.
One of three people on board has been identified. Bailey Helicopters says Peter Bryant, 45, was a highly experienced pilot and had been with the company for 11 years. It’s still unclear if he was at the controls when the helicopter went down.
Bailey Helicopters is based out of Fort St. John. All on-board were employees of the company.
The company says it will release the names of the other two employees when next of kin have been notified.
Poor weather conditions and a risk of an avalanche prevented crews from reaching the crash site on Friday. They were finally able to access the site late yesterday.
