Millions of LinkedIn passwords leaked

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – If you use the business networking website LinkedIn, you might want to change your password.

A file containing six-million passwords was stolen and leaked onto the Internet where hackers were working together to crack the encrypted codes.

Graham Cluley, a consultant with the UK web security company Sophos, confirmed that the passwords were among other private information stolen from the LinkedIn database.

LinkedIn did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but they posted a Tweet a few hours following initial reports of the leak saying they are “looking into reports of stolen passwords.”

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network, with over 150-million active users.
