Two schools, a gym, and restaurant on Mitchell’s hit list

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Very public places were named on a hit list compiled by Angus David Mitchell that was revealed by police yesterday.

IHIT Sergeant Jennifer Pound says two schools, a gym, another restaurant, and a coffee shop were to be targeted, all in different communities of Metro Vancouver.

“We’re looking at seven different jurisdictions throughout the Lower Mainland including Burnaby, Vancouver, New West, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, and White Rock,” she explains.

“In the bigger picture we don’t believe that a whole school was going to be targeted,” Pound adds. “But we do believe that it shows how planned out he was and that he knew these potential victims, where they were going and where they lived.”

Police say Mitchell had listed names, addresses, phone numbers, and even maps linked to those potential targets.

Mitchell died in a shootout with police in Maple Ridge last week. He has been linked to a double homicide in Burnaby and the shooting of his former landlord.

Investigators are not naming people on the hit list, but say all of the people on it have been contacted. Pound says despite that, Mitchell’s motives are still not understood and it’s not clear if one that makes sense will ever be found.
