TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – Christopher Husbands, the suspect in the Eaton Centre shooting, is facing new charges today.
Husbands, 23, is facing two charges of first-degree murder as well as five counts of attempted murder charges.
A second victim, 22-year-old Nixon Nirmalendran, died of his injuries in the hospital Monday night. The name of the victim can now be released as the court-ordered publication ban that was in place has been lifted.
The Toronto-man was among six people wounded in the June 2nd shooting in the food court.
The first victim to die was 24-year-old Ahmed Hassan of Toronto. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The youngest person injured in the shooting was a 13-year-old boy who was struck by a stray bullet. He was released from hospital Monday.
Police say they believe the shooting was the result of a personal dispute and was not gang-motivated.
