VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps can ensure they remain in the top four spots of the Western Conference standings with a win today as they host the Colorado Rapids at BC Place.
The Whitecaps (6W-3L-4D) are currently in fourth place in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, three points clear of fifth-place Colorado (6W-6L-1D).
Vancouver can potentially move up the table to third place if they get a pair of necessary results. The Whitecaps need a win over the Rapids and a Seattle loss to Montreal to move one point clear of Sounders FC.
The match is the second of a three-game home stand for the Whitecaps. They topped the Houston Dynamo 3-1 last weekend. The Rapids haven’t played a match in three weeks.
The match is the first meeting of the season between the two teams and third overall since Vancouver joined the league. Colorado took a pair of 2-1 victories over the Whitecaps last season.
The Whitecaps will be sporting their new third kits which they unveiled on Thursday. The kits are primarily arbutus brown with sky-blue accents. The ‘Caps will wear the kits up to three times this season.
Kick-off is at 4 p.m. and the game can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet One.
