Animal activists monitoring Whistler sled dog case

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Animal rights activists hope a high profile animal cruelty case in Whistler will bring more attention to animal cruelty crimes.

News1130 spoke to activists outside the North Vancouver Provincial Court today, after the court date for the man charged with killing dozens of sled dogs was postponed.

Marley Daviduk with the Animal Defence League says anyone who can can kill animals can also be a threat to society.

“We’re taking animal abuse seriously because these are violent individuals and it doesn’t just stop at animals,” she says.

She adds the world will be watching to see how Canada’s court system deal with Robert Fawcett’s case.

He is charged with killing dozens of sled dogs in Whistler two years ago.

He’ll be back in court August 16th.
