Careful what you put online: survey

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What you say and do online can be used against you…likely by your boss.

By 2015 over half of all employers will be snooping.

A Gartner technology analyst survey suggests you’d better start paying attention to your Tweets and status updates.

Ken Docherty with vancouverresume.com says even if you’ve been with your company for years, you are not immune to this type of snooping.

“They are looking to mitigate risk,” he says. “You could be slandering management, you could be divulging trade secrets, you could be having general discussions with competition. There are a number of different problems that that poses for a corporation.”

He says companies spend a lot of cash on brand marketing. Even an innocent night out can come back to bite you Monday morning.

At the very least he recommends upping your privacy settings and watching your online circle to make sure others don’t bring you down.
