Does the start of summer mean the start of summer weather?

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Welcome to summer! Well, almost.

We officially move into summer this afternoon and it couldn’t come any sooner.

“Spring’s been so dreary, I’m sure we’re all ready to get summer underway,” admits News1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate.

He adds we may be in for a nice day today, “but I have to caution I am still seeing the lagging effects of a La Nina hangover in the large-scale global air streams.”

“I’m still expecting that coolish, unusually damp pattern to show up in the forecast headlines more often than not for about another three weeks,” he explains.

“The biggest difference for this year is that conditions are expected to turn unusually dry for late July, August, and all through September,” adds Lacate.
