Possible court challenge for shark fin product ban

By

TORONTO, Ont. – The legality of municipal bylaws which ban selling and consuming shark fin products may be challenged in court.

A Toronto group called “The Fair and Responsible Governance Alliance” has hired a lawyer, and they tell the Toronto Star they wish to meet with Toronto councillors, city staff and mayors before taking legal action.

Toronto’s ban is scheduled to take effect in September, while Mississauga’s is scheduled to come into effect at the end of June.
