VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An HIV-positive man found guilty of having unprotected sex with five women in BC has lost an appeal of his convictions.
Adrian Sylver Nduwayo was convicted of seven counts of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault because he didn’t tell the women he had the disease.
Three of the women ended up contracting HIV.
Nduwayo appealed two of the convictions, claiming the trial judge misread expert evidence or gave other evidence too much weight.
However, the BC Court of Appeal has ruled the judge did not make any major mistakes and the final verdicts were reasonable.
Nduwayo was convicted in BC Supreme Court in 2010 and sentenced on the various charges to terms ranging up to six years.
