VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’re planning to camp this warm weekend, you’re asked to be very careful if you’re going to light a fire.
Marg Drysdale with the Coastal Fire Centre says they expect Sunday and Monday to be the hottest of the next ten days. She notes campfires are allowed.
“We ask that they’re half a metre by a half a metre — it’s the legal size — and that people have either a shovel or eight litres of water and they definitely put them out at the end of the weekend,” she explains.
“We know that people are going to be out there, enjoying the outdoors. We’re just asking them to please be careful out there,” she adds.
Drysdale says they’ve had a lot of trouble with people abandoning campfires.
