ALDERGROVE (NEWS1130) – There’s a new giraffe at the Greater Vancouver Zoo in Aldergrove.
Jody Henderson with the zoo says the five-year-old male is getting along well with the zoo’s other giraffe, Jafari, after his mate passed away in November.

“For the most part they get along pretty good, but every day, we’re obviously have to monitor them all day long and making sure everything goes okay, and they’re separated at this point in time.”

She adds there are some kinks they are working out.

“Obviously with any heard animals, he’s in a new surrounding and a new friend, there is going to be territorial issues.”

The new giraffe is more than 13-feet tall and comes from a safari park in Cambridge, Ontario.
He doesn’t have a name yet, but staff are in the process of picking one.
