LONDON, ENGLAND (NEWS1130) – North Vancouver’s Filip Peliwo won the Wimbledon boy’s singles final, defeating the number one seed Luke Saville of Australia 7-5, 6-4.

Peliwo finished off the match with his fifth ace, as the 18-year-old got a bit of revenge on his Aussie opponent. Saville defeated the Canadian in the Aussie Open final in January, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

Saville was the defending Wimbledon boys champion.

The Canadian came all the way back from 2-5 down in the opening set to win the final five games. Peliwo also fought back in the second set after being down 3-1.

The match took 92 minutes, as Peliwo had 19 winners and broke Saville four times in 11 tries.

Peliwo lost on the clay in the French Open to Belgian Kimmer Coppejans 6-1, 6-4.

On Monday, Peliwo will become the number one ranked junior player in the world according to the International Tennis Federation.

Canada swept the junior singles titles. On Saturday, Westmount, Quebec’s Eugenie Bouchard won the girls’ championship. Bouchard teamed with American Taylor Townsend on Sunday to win the girls’ doubles final.
