Surrey man saves toddler from drowning

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A man who lives in a house where a young girl was pulled from a pool this afternoon managed to get her breathing again before paramedics showed up.

News1130 spoke to the man, who asked to remain anonymous.

The man was in his house at 96th Ave. and 129th St. with some friends from Calgary and their two-year-old daughter. The door to the backyard and the above-ground pool, surrounded by a deck, was open.

The toddler was playing with toys right behind him and was then nowhere to be seen.

The man checked the covered pool but couldn’t find the girl. Then he checked the pool one more time and spotted her pink top under the tarp.

He quickly pulled the child out and gave her CPR. A minute later she was breathing and crying.

The toddler was rushed to Surrey Memorial Hospital and the homeowner says she’s now at Children’s Hospital.

The man who saved the child says he’s going to make sure all his five children and 11 grandchildren learn CPR.
