VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) -A BC Supreme Court judge says Ripudamin Singh Malik has to cover his own legal fees for the Air India trial.
Malik’s lawyer argued he should be reimbursed for $9.2 million.
Malik and Ajaib Singh Bagri were acquitted of murder in the bombings that killed 331 people back in 1985, but Malik spent four years in custody while he was awaiting trial.
That was one of nine points his lawyer outlined as reasons he should be reimbursed.
The judge says Malik fell markedly short with his application.
He also noted Malik and his wife have $11 million dollars in assets, so the legal fees aren’t beyond his means.
