BOISE, ID (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canadians scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to come back from six runs down to edge the Hawks 12-11. The win ends the C’s three-game losing streak.

Down 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Toronto’s 2012 first-round draft pick Marcus Stroman made his debut. The right-hander out of Duke University only managed to last 2/3 of inning on the mound, giving up three Hawks runs on three hits, with a walk.

Down 10-4 in the top of the seventh inning, 13 Canadians batters turned the six-run deficit into a 12-10 advantage. Centre fielder Matt Newman led Vancouver with three R-B-I on a bases clearing triple in the big eight run inning.

Right-handed pitcher Matt Johnson won his first professional game for the C’s.

The temperature at the start of the contest was 43 degrees Celsius or 108 degrees Fahrenheit.

The two teams will meet again at 6:15pm on Friday night.
