Dog found bleeding in Vancouver dumpster

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Animal cruelty investigators are trying to find out who left a German Shepherd that was nearly dead in a Vancouver dumpster today. It was wrapped in a bloody blanket near Maple and Cornwall.

Lori Chortyk with the BC SPCA says the dog is in bad shape. “The dog was conscious but not very responsive. So we rushed him to an emergency medical clinic and he’s been there the whole day. Even though his injuries are very serious we are hopeful he can be saved.”

The two-year-old male has serious cuts and bruising to his face and neck. He’s also underweight.

Chortyk says they’ve tracked down the dog’s owners but it’s still too early to say whether charges will be laid.
