Video campaign opposes Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The debate over expanding Kinder Morgan‘s pipeline through Burnaby is heating up with a new video opposing the company’s plans.

The expansion would more than quadruple the number of tankers passing by our shores, and people aren’t happy about it.

The video asks viewers to consider the risks posed by the hundreds of new tankers that would be passing through our waters if Kinder Morgan’s expansion plans are approved.

Tanker Free BC‘s Sven Biggs says more tankers in Vancouver’s waters means more risk.

“Here there was about 77 tankers, but if Kinder Morgan gets their way they will double the size of their pipeline, which will make it larger than the Enbridge pipeline and have about 300 tankers coming through our habour every year,” he explains.

The video will be played at the Kitsilano Tankers Town Hall Meeting next Tuesday and upcoming meetings in the Lower Mainland.
