VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – A man accused of racing through traffic at an incredible speed on Vancouver Island and posting a video of it online is now in police custody.

Randy Scott, 25, of Victoria turned himself in at the Kelowna RCMP detachment last night.

“This is in relation to the dramatic YouTube video that was posted back in April that showed a motorcycle traveling at about 300 kilometres per hour,” says Sgt. Dean Jantzen with Saanich Police. “He remains in police custody and he’ll be appearing in court in the interior.”

Scott was charged with dangerous driving earlier this month, but police didn’t know where he was. Investigators knew that he had contacts in Kelowna and elsewhere in BC.

A woman from Esquimalt owns the motorcycle. She was charged even though police never believed she was the person in the video, weaving through traffic as the needle on the speedometre hovered around 300km/hr.

The YouTube video has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people.
