VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What is summer without ice cream? Vancouver has some independent ice cream makers you can check out.
Avalon Dairy is a certified organic dairy in East Vancouver and you can pick up their ice cream either on-site or at grocery stores around the Lower Mainland.
Another ice cream parlour getting a lot of attention is Earnest Ice Cream.
“[They have] flavours like roasted rhubarb and oat crumble,” says Mijune Pak from Follow Me Foodie. “They have a couple of unique flavours and they also do custom made flavours.”
Did you know Vancouver is home to the best gelato in the world? Bella Gelateria recently took home that title from a competition in Florence, Italy.
“They… won [for] the best gelato in the world.” explains Pak. “[The owner used] caramelized and toasted pecans infused with sea salt and maple syrup from Quebec.”
You can also find great hand-crafted gelato in White Rock at Dolce Gelato, but they are only open during the summer months.
