Management Committee to meet Tuesday on audit report

By

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – The committee that was blasted by BC’s auditor general in a scathing report yesterday will meet next week to figure out what its next steps will be.

Auditor General John Doyle says the books for the Legislative Assembly Management Committee are so out of whack, he can’t even tell if any laws have been broken.

Following this meeting, the Committee will release a public statement, including a full schedule of meetings and a work plan.

“As Chair of the Legislative Assembly Management Committee, I take the report and its findings very seriously”, said the Honourable Bill Barisoff, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

“All Committee Members are committed to continue to address the concerns that have been raised and begin implementing effective change as soon as possible.”

In addition, the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, Craig James, and senior financial advisor to the Assembly, Arn van Iersel, will be attending a previously scheduled meeting with the Assembly’s internal audit provider, Deloitte, in Vancouver on Monday.
