VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey?

Judging by profiles on some local dating websites, a lot of single women have. One site, which specializes in ‘sugar daddy’ relationships, says thousands of profiles mention the erotic novel trilogy.

“It’s 4,484 women from Vancouver who are looking for that specific relationship in the book,” says Jennifer Gwynn at SeekingArrangments.com.

In Canada, only Toronto has more profiles mentioning “Christian Grey”, “Anastasia Steele” or  “50 Shades,” but Vancouver is tops on the site when you look at it on a per capita basis.

“A lot of women are reading this book and thinking of it as a fairy tale. Then they go online to find something similar in real life,” explains Gwynn.

Though with the website, which focuses on “mutual beneficial relationships,” life may not exactly imitate art.

“At the end of the book, they end up falling in love and getting married. I don’t know if those hopes are the same for the women on our site,” admits Gwynn.

Call it fifty shades of sugar daddy.
