Canadians close homestand crushing Eugene 11-4

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canadians completed a sweep of visiting Salem-Keizer, hammering the Volcanoes 11-4 at Nat Bailey Stadium.  The C’s managed 12 hits in the afternoon, with eight players collecting at least one hit each.

The big bat for Vancouver belonged to DH Art Charles who knocked in three runs, including the tie-breaking run in the 5th inning.  The Volcanoes also committed a pair of costly errors which the Canadians were quick to capitalize on.  

Canadians right-hander Nick Purdy tossed three shutout innings earning the win to improve to 2-1.  Purdy also lowered his season ERA to just 2.28.  The Canadians now hit the road for an eight-game Northwest League Road trip that begins in Eugene, OR against the Emeralds tomorrow night.
