Pride weekend will be a scorcher! Don’t forget to hydrate

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people who will cram into downtown Vancouver for the Pride Parade this weekend, it’s probably a good idea to pack some water with you.

Temperatures are expected to creep into the high twenties and Shannon Marshall with St. John Ambulance Service says it will be important for people to keep cool.

“We will have five posts down there for the weekend and I expect it will pretty steady with people,” Marshall says.  “People will probably want to come into the posts just to get away from the hot weather.”

The City of Vancouver is also warning people to be careful.

“While temperatures are not forecast to reach heat-alert levels, they will be warm and they could pose a health problem for at-risk citizens, including seniors, persons with chronic health problems, the homeless and persons who are socially isolated or reliant on caregivers,” city staff say in a release.

People won’t be giving away free water at the parade, but the city is bringing in extra drinking fountains.

There will also be lots locations where it will be sold.
