VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Sunshine, a fireworks finale, and finally a Pride Parade. It’s the perfect recipe for a very successful weekend for Vancouver’s downtown businesses.

The head of the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association says the weekend could be more lucrative for the service industry than Grey Cup weekend.

Ian Tostenson says with every restaurant patio filled to capacity on fireworks night and a blazing sun beaming down on Pride partiers today, business is good

“It’s hard to quantify in terms of dollars but you’ve got almost 600,000 people roaming around between Pride Week and the fireworks and all the things that are going on, it’s probably one of the bigger events we’ve had this year,” he says.

Added to that, clubs and lounges will open early to cater to the revelers.

Tostenson says he’s  even seen lineup at take-out places.
