Beluga dies at Vancouver Aquarium

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – She wasn’t just the oldest whale at the Vancouver Aquarium, but at any accredited aquarium in North America.

Kavna was about 46-years-old, and in the wild, the whales are believed to live anywhere from just 25 to 30 years.

Over the past couple of weeks, Kavna was showing inconsistent behaviour, and blood work was being done to determine why.

Aquarium staff will try and determine the cause of death of Kavna over the next couple days.

Last September, three-year-old Tiqa died from heart failure that was induced by pneumonia.
