VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Are the challenges that BC Premier Christy Clark faces as a woman in politics turning women off politics?
While you may think Clark’s poor reputation could deter women from public life, that may not be the case.
Sandy Mayzell is the founder of Dancing with the Octopus, a website designed to get women interested in politics.
Say the premier’s less than spectacular reputation could trigger some instincts.
“The number one reason women enter politics in the first place is that something bugs them so bad that they say ‘Enough, I’m going to run and change things,'” she explains. “So if they’re disappointed in Clark’s performance, that could inspire more women to run, determined to do a better job.”
Last week Clark admitted to using the bible when making tough decisions for the province.
