NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A man from the North Shore is accused of threatening to carry out a mass shooting like one in Colorado at a movie theatre in the Lower Mainland.
Ryan Lewis, 32, has been charged with uttering threats.
North Vancouver RCMP Corporal Richard de Jong says Lewis was arrested last week, after multiple threatening postings went up on his Facebook page.
“Part of the investigation [is to see]… Did he have access to these sorts of weapons or something that could have been a danger to other people?” explains Richard
De Jong says no threats were made against any specific person. “The postings, which have since been taken down, were very graphic [and] quite detailed. As one can imagine, he wanted to repeat what happened in Colorado.”
They appeared online just four days after 12 people were gunned down and 58 others hurt in a mass shooting at a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado. James Holmes is charged with 24 counts of first degree murder and 116 counts of attempted murder in that shooting.
