BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Dangerous driving charges have been laid against a 29-year-old man from Port Coquitlam accused of reaching 200 kilometres an hour on his motorcycle along the Trans Canada Highway last night.
An RCMP chopper tailed the bike as it sped through Coquitlam, Burnaby, New West, Richmond and Vancouver.
Mounties followed the bike as it weaved through traffic traveling between 150 and 200 kilometres an hour.
They were finally able to go after the suspect on the ground when the bike pulled into a parking lot at Metrotown around 7 p.m.
Police arrested a man a short while later, he was in the passenger seat of an SUV with a woman who was trying to drive away from the mall.
Cpl. Rick Skolorud with Burnaby RCMP says they are examining the 2012 black Ducati motorcycle they seized.
“After that is completed determination will be made as to the seizure of the bike.”
The woman driving the SUV won’t be charged.
