Canadian Little League champs off to Williamsport

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – Fresh off of their Canadian championship win in Edmonton, the Hastings Little League squad is off to Williamsport for the Little League World Series.
Prior to landing in Pennsylvania, the team had a stop over in Toronto today. The boys were honoured prior to the Blue Jays and Yankees game at Rogers Centre.
Hastings punched their ticket to Pennsylvania by beating Lethbridge 11-1 in the Canadian title game. It only took four innings, as the the mercy rule was enacted.
In seven consecutive wins at the Nationals, Hastings outscored their opponents 73-2. They had five shutouts and won four games by the mercy rule.
Up next for Team Canada is Mexico on Friday at 10 a.m.
No Canadian team has ever won the world title.
