Small plane goes down just west of Peachland

PEACHLAND (NEWS1130) – The Transportation Safety Board confirm one person is dead and three others are injured after a small plane went down about 22 km west of Peachland.
Canadian Navy search and rescue spokeswoman Capt. Annie Djiotsa says a Piper twin engine Commanche went down near Brenda Mines.
She says the plane took off from Pentictona about 55 km from the crash site and was on its way to Boundary Bay. The information came from a passing WestJet flight. A Cormorant helicopter was dispatched, along with a Buffalo aircraft.
“Search and rescue technicians jumped off the Buffalo to access the crash site, which is how they were able to provide immediate assistance on board the airplane,” she says.
Bill Yearwood with the Transportation Safety Board says it’s not clear how severe the injuries are.
“Search and rescue have gotten into the site and we understand from them that three persons have survived and one did not survive,” he says. “We have two investigators getting ready to deploy first thing in the morning”
He adds it’s too early to say what caused the crash.
Back in May, a small float-plane crashed in the same general area killing three people.
