VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Getting across the border is costing you money.
A study out this morning says delays at the line are costing us $19 billion a year.
The Fraser Institute believes the solution is for Canada and the US to coordinate border policies to make it easier for people and goods to get across the 49th parallel.
“Canadians and Americans are at a crossroads: either we continue with incremental and uncoordinated border programs as we have often done since 9-11 or we begin to create a new border regime,” says Alexander Moens with the Institute.
The report points to big drops in tourist traffic as evidence of the problem.
