MISSISSAUGA, ON (NEWS1130) – Police west of Toronto suspect foul play after a head and a foot were found in a river.
Peel Regional Police Acting Inspector Randy Cowan says the right foot was found in the Credit River in Mississauga. The head was found nearby.
Police believe the foot has been in the water for at least a couple of weeks.
Cowan tells us the foot appears to belong to a woman, as the toenails are painted, but they don’t know yet if the foot and head are from the same person. He adds police don’t know if the body parts were placed there or washed from somewhere else in the river.
Cowan says the size of the body parts do not suggest they are from a child.
Search crews, divers and dogs are combing the area.
