VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s the second largest film festival in town and the folks behind it feel they are under-represented.
The 24th annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival will feature dozens of movies from 16 different countries.
Program Director Amber Dawn says everyone is welcome because there are a lot of cross-over films, meaning you’ll see straight love stories, gay love stories and everything in between.
“Our festival looks at stories and films from the queer community, which is still an under-represented community when it comes to mainstream media,” Dawn believes. “Our community does not exist in a silo and neither does our film making.”
This year’s theme is films for lovers and fighters. You can check them all out at six different theatres around Vancouver until August 26th.
