KELOWNA (NEWS1130) - Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray will do something today that he refused to do when he last sat in the mayor’s chair in the 1990′s.
He will read the official proclamation supporting Okanagan Pride Week.
Gray pledged to read the proclamation at the city’s Pride family picnic as his apology for the controversy he caused more than a decade ago by refusing to issue a Pride proclamation.
That refusal got him and the city into serious trouble with a BC Human Rights tribunal.
Fellow Kelowna councillors, local MPs and MLAs will stand beside Gray as he reads the proclamation, along with greetings from Premier Christy Clark and the lieutenant-governor.
