SALEM-KEIZER, WA (NEWS1130) – Outfielder Carlos Ramirez drove in a pair of runs and scored twice as he helped the Vancouver Canadians to a 4-1 victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in Northwest League Action.

The 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic hit home Jason Leblebijian and Matt Newman with a double in the sixth inning, giving the Canadians a 2-0 lead. He came home to score later in the inning on an Ian Parmley single.

The Vancouver still leading 3-0 in the eighth inning, Ramirez led-off with a triple to right field before scoring his second run of the game on a Jorge Flores double.

In the bottom of the ninth, Joseph Rapp hit a solo homer off of Tucker Donahue with two outs to break-up the Canadians shut-out bid, but that was as close as the Volcanoes would get.

Canadians starter Taylor Cole improved his record to 5-0 as he gave up no runs on just one hit while striking out six in six innings of work.

The win was the fourth in five games for Vancouver.

The two teams will wrap-up their series on Tuesday evening.
