COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – A local punk rocker wants to go from the stage to the legislature.
Joey Keithley — who is the front man for DOA — has filed his nomination papers to run for the BC NDP in the election next year and he’s not worried some people will see his punk rock image as a turn off.
“I think it’s going to help because people know what I stand for,” Keithley believes. “They know I stand for trying to help people, affect positive change and getting people to work towards a greater goal.”
Keithley wants to run in the Coquitlam-Burke Mountain riding.
“I guess maybe I’m thinking it’s my turn if I win this nomination, win the riding in the election, to work inside the mainstream and help people.”
Douglas Horne is the current MLA in that riding.
