SURREY (NEWS1130) – A 35-year-old man is dead after a motor-scooter accident in Surrey early this morning.
The man was riding eastbound on Fraser Highway near 176th Street when he somehow lost control and hit the ground in a construction zone.
“Another vehicle following — and we don’t have an exact timing on when this vehicle approached — but he didn’t see this person lying in the roadway until he was upon him,” explains RCMP Staff Sergeant Bob Pinkewycz. “There was a resulting collision with the pedestrian and the driver of the motor-scooter passed away.”
Pinkewycz says investigators don’t know if speed is a factor in the crash.
“I’m not sure if it was debris that [the motor-scooter] struck that caused him to hit the road, or I believe that [speed] would be undetermined at this time.”
The driver of the car stuck around and is cooperating with the investigation.
