BURNABY (NEWS1130) – ICBC says distracted driving is now the third leading cause of car crash fatalities in BC and a new enforcement campaign is being launched today aimed at decreasing that number.
Police will be targeting drivers who continue to text, email, and use handheld phones when they should be paying attention to the road in front of them.
Other common distractions for drivers include eating, drinking, and applying makeup.
The campaign is being launched with just a little over a week to go before the start of the new school year. It will last through the month of September.
This is a BC-wide campaign.
