VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Three suspected Stanley Cup rioters are in the United States evading arrest by Vancouver Police.
All of them are men in their early twenties.
“Two of them are from the United States. They live there, they are US citizens, they’re US residents, they reside down there. One of them is a Canadian from Vancouver currently studying in the US,” explains VPD Cst. Brian Montague.
He says Crown has approved charges and is looking into the possibility of extradition back to Canada.
“We’ve been in discussions with some or all of them, trying to convince them to turn themselves in, make arrangements with investigators to turn themselves in,”adds Montague. “They have been flagged at the border and if they do attempt to come back into the country, they would be arrested.”
People facing charges from the Stanley Cup riot in Vancouver last year now stands at 137. Vancouver Police have said they could be recommending charges against as many as 300 people before the riot investigation is over.
