VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The good weather and those little donuts weren’t enough for the PNE to reach its attendance goal.
This year, the number of visitors at the Fair is down from last year.
The Star Trek Exhibit and the Family Feud were big hits says Laura Ballance with the PNE.
But she blames market conditions and the high Canadian dollar, which may have scared American tourists away.
“We’re anticipating that we may be off by 5 to 8 per cent to what we had planned on when we looked at this year’s fair back in September of last year,” she says.
Normally, about a quarter of the people who go through the gates come from outside of Canada.
Ballance expects the final tally to be about 825,000.
