NORTH DELTA (NEWS1130) – The first day back to class in North Delta was met with some grad pranks totaling over $5000 in damages.
Several schools were vandalized last night, some grass fires were even set.
Cst. Cieran Feenan says based on the fact that the suspects tried to burn “Grad 2013″ into the grass, these seem to be grad pranks that got out of hand.
“There are other things and other ways they can celebrate,” he says. “We like things that the school endorses, things that parents are involved with. Those types of things are not putting kids at risk of being involved in mischief and property damage.”
Seaquam Secondary, Burnsview Secondary, Sands Secondary and Gibson Elementary were also hit with things like spray paint and toilet paper.
There were around 80 students up to no good on some of the school grounds.
“With kids involved and engaged in activities like this, I mean we are talking about fire here,” he says. “We don’t want to see kids get hurt.”
