ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – Abbotsford Police won’t go so far as to call her a “kleptomaniac” but they are saying if it wasn’t bolted down, she would steal it.
A one woman crime-spree in that city that started in November ended just last month.
Constable Ian MacDonald says the thief would break into cars, swipe things from cars while people were in a coffee shop grabbing a quick cup.
A 33-year-old has been charged with 28 counts of fraud as well as thefts of things like iPod’s, wallets and tires.
“We even were able to put together one of our investigations that proved she stole a toaster from a Rec Centre.”
MacDonald says the woman was not homeless or desperate and pawning off the goods for cash.
“No. This is an individual who has lived in our community who has been the source of numerous police interactions over the years but we were not aware of the extent of her criminality.”
