LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – Langley Mounties want to keep this weekend’s annual car show free of gangsters, stunters, and drunks. They’ll have a big presence at the Good Times Cruise In.
There are a whole bunch of shined-up Hot Rods and Harleys in the city — well over 1,000. It’s lots of fun, but there’s lot of testosterone, as well.
RCMP Corporal Holly Marks says in past years, they’ve had some problems. “Obviously, impaired driving; with an event like this, there’s the occasional drinking, et cetera. So, we do see impaired driving. But there’s also been a number of stunting-type things.”
She tells us they’re not taking any chances this year. “There will be citations and violation tickets handed out for people who choose to dampen the event with poor driving.”
There will be about 70 officers watching out for drunks, street racers, and even the odd gangster who might show up. Marks says they’re committed to keeping the event family-friendly.
